DATA COMMUNICATION AND NETWORK-AE4376T

This course presents a unified overview of the broad field of data and computer communications emphasizing its basic principles and topics of fundamental importance. The student is introduced to the basic OSI and TCP/IP protocol architectures along with the concept of protocol layering to elucidate the vertical and horizontal interactions between protocols.  Topics such as WAN and LAN are then covered in the context of the nodes that are connected either directly or through a multiple access network.  Emphasis is laid on the concepts of error control, synchronization, switching and multiplexing techniques as well as data security.
